På vei inn i sommerferien kommer vi med flere tips til hvordan kalenderen for høsten 2025 kan fylles med meningsfulle aktiviteter innen bærekraftutdanning – konferanser, PhD kurs eller lesing av fersk forskningslitteratur om bærekraft i lærerutdanning.
Neste nyhetsbrev kommer på den andre siden av sommerferien.

KONFERANSER
NABU nettverkskonferanse ved UiT/Alta 28.-30.oktober
Konferansekomiteen i Alta melder om at konferanseplanleggingen er i rute, og har avslørt at vi får høre følgende hovedforedrag:
- Førsteamanuensis Marikaisa Laiti (Sami Allaskuvla). Tittel: Eight seasons of the year: sustainability of Sámi early childhood education
- Førsteamanuensis Carola Kleemann (UiT, Norges arktiske universitet). Tittel: Språklig bærekraftig i arktisk kontekst
- Førstelektor Jan Höper (UiT, Norges arktiske universitet). Tittel: Vårt fenomenale nærområde – Naturfagets mulige bidrag til bærekraftig utvikling.
I tillegg til parallellsesjoner blir det kafedialoger der det blir mulig å diskutere på tvers av fag og institusjoner.

Konferanse ‘Geografi en brytningstid’ i Trondheim 26-27.november
Norsk Geografisk Selskap og Institutt for geografi og sosialantropologi ved NTNU, med professor Jørund Aasetre i ledelsen inviterer til konferanse på NTNU campus Kalvskinnet. Konferansens har en egen sesjon om utdanning i tillegg til mange andre bærekraftrelaterte temaer:
- utdanning, skole og fagdidaktikk i en brytningstid
- samfunnsutvikling, innovasjon og bærekraftig omstilling
- klimaendringer og effekter på landskap og samfunn
- lokalsamfunn og regionale endringer i Norge
- utviklingsgeografi, globalisering og geopolitikk
- miljø og ressursspørsmål i en turbulent tid

PHD-KURS
Ecosemiotics in the field, Universitetet i Oslo, 2.-3. september 2025

This short, field-based course is designed to provide students with a hands-on introduction to ecosemiotics as a research paradigm. The course is aimed particularly at PhD and early career researchers with an interest in transdisciplinary and humanities-led environmental research who want to strengthen their practical field research skills.
Ecosemiotics is a «border discipline» that concerns itself with the semiotic relations between culture and nature, with interpreting the natural and cultural environments and with the mechanisms that create and balance environmental conflicts. It treats populations, ecosystems, societies, and cultural phenomena as semiotic and communicative webs, emphasizing their structure, dynamics, and interrelations.
The course is taught by Timo Maran, Professor of Ecosemiotics and Environmental Humanities at the University of Tartu.
Registration: Until August 1 we will prioritize applications from PhD and early career researchers based at UiO. After August 1, the remaining places will be opened up also to applicants based at other universities, in Norway and overseas, on a first come first served basis.
The lecture on September 2 will be public and streamed via zoom.

Political Philosophy of Education, Universitetet i Oslo, 3-4. september 2025
Kurset kan være aktuelt for stipendiater i NABU-nettverket som er opptatt av den politiske dimensjonen i utdanning for bærekraftig utvikling. Foredragene holdes av Torill Strand, Marianna Papastephanou, Claudia Schumann og Ole Andreas Kvamme.
This PhD- course takes place at the University of Agder’s campus in Kristiansand, Norway, on 26-28 November 2025.
It will provide both a general overview of ecocritical theory and insights into many of the most recent developments within ecocriticism, such as econarratology, decolonial ecocriticism, material ecocriticism, critical plant studies, blue ecocriticism, as well as ecocritical pedagogy and literature education. The course also includes a discussion of the place of ecocriticism within the environmental humanities and of how multi-, inter-, or transdisciplinary ecocritical research can (or should) be. The lecturers are Marco Caracciolo, Søren Frank, Lykke Guanio-Uluru, Berit Huntebrinker, Tobias Skiveren, and Reinhard Hennig.
The course is offered in cooperation by the PhD specialization in literary studies at the University of Agder and the Norwegian Researcher School in Environmental Humanities (NoRS-EH). Students from both within and outside Norway who are not members of the PhD specialization or of NoRS-EH, but who are working on relevant projects within ecocriticism/the environmental humanities, are encouraged to apply.
The course awards 2 or 5 ECTS, depending on the form of examination that participants choose. The deadline for registration is 10 September 2025.

Fra ytterkant til hovedstrøm – 9. september
Hva skjer med identiteten til et forskningsfelt når problemstillinger som utforskes her møter stadig større interesse fra andre forskningsfelt? Og hvordan bidrar dette til å reprodusere og endre forestillinger, strukturer og praksiser som ikke er bærekraftige, inkludert global urettferdighet?
Nettverk 30 Environmental and Sustainability Education Research (ESER) på ECER inviterer til webinar tirsdag 9. september kl. 10-12.
Webinaret arrangeres i forbindelse med ECER 2025, men er åpent for alle interesserte. Det legges opp til både forberedte bidrag og diskusjoner i grupper.

Temanummer i Acta Didactica ‘Bærekraft i lærerutdanningene’
Vi gratulerer gjesteredaksjonen i Acta Didactica og forfatterne med temanummeret om bærekraft i lærerutdanningene – endelig er det publisert. For de som ikke fikk med seg lanseringseminaret av Acta Didacticas siste temanummer om bærekraft i lærerutdanningene tidligere i juni, kan nå finne de 11 ferske artiklene om bærekraft i lærerutdanningene her.
Innovating Teacher Education for Sustainable Development – An International Perspective
Robert J. Didham ved INN har bidratt til publikasjonen om bærekraft i lærerutdanning:
This publication is the culminating output of the Final Joint Seminar of the JSPS Core-to-Core Programme (held 6–8 November 2024 in Okayama, Japan), which brought together teacher educators, researchers, policymakers, and practitioners from around the world. Co-organised by Okayama University with support from the Japan Society for the Promotion of Science (JSPS), this collaborative initiative was developed in partnership with the international network of the UNESCO Chair for Education for Sustainable Development.
The recommendations presented in this volume reflect years of shared research, dialogue, and practical experimentation across more than a dozen countries. Structured around five key domains—Competency, Curriculum, Pedagogy, Assessment, and Institutional Practice — it offers a practical and adaptable framework to support the transformation of teacher education systems in pursuit of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).

Artikkel: Naturfaglæreres forståelse av bærekraftig utvikling i skolesammenheng
Marthe Arntzen, Eldri Scheie og Berit Haug ved UiO (Naturfagsenteret) har nylig publisert en studie i International Journal of Science Education. Artikkelen handler om hvordan naturfaglærere selv forstår bærekraftig utvikling i skolesammenheng – og hva de mener ungdomsskoleelever bør lære gjennom miljø- og bærekraftundervisning.
